The Education Team at SafeWork SA comprises advisory, our help centre, licensing and library services.

The team helps improve understanding of WHS requirements among businesses, including how to address physical and psychosocial hazards, deals with enquiries and triages incident notifications and process applications for high-risk work licences.

Advisory team on the road

It was a busy year for our SafeWork SA’s Workplace Advisory Service with its advisors travelling the state to educate businesses about WHS hazards and obligations.

During the 2024-25 year, our advisors conducted 316 in-person engagements, up from 284 in 2023-24.

The addition of a HSR Advisor to the team in March 2024 is also paying dividends, with the new role responding to more than 500 HSR and PCBU enquiries and requests.

These engagements included attendance at regional field days, mock court trials, role of agency presentations, speaking at industry forums, meeting industry stakeholders and workplace visits.

New triage approach boosts efficiency

A new approach to triaging reports of work incidents and complaints on the phone has helped increase the time available for inspectors to undertake priority site visits.

Introduced in May 2024, 2024-25 was the first full year of operation for the new system.
