Reviews of holiday and shop trading legislation

In April 2012, legislation was passed to establish new public holiday shop trading arrangements for Adelaide's Central Business District (CBD) Tourist Precinct and also to create part-day public holidays on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

A key objective of the legislation was to balance the economic benefit of extended shopping hours with the community and social benefits of the creation of the two part-day public holidays.

The South Australian Centre for Economic Studies (SACES) was appointed to undertake the reviews that were required by the law.

The reports containing the outcomes of the reviews are now complete and are available here.
