Health and wellbeing

Well designed and managed workplaces can play a beneficial role in promoting worker health and wellbeing, minimising ill health and facilitating a faster recovery and return to work after injury or illness.

The World Health Organization defines a healthy workplace as one in which workers and managers collaborate to use a continuous improvement process to protect and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of all workers and the sustainability of the workplace.

The workplace is increasingly being used as a setting for health promotion and preventative health activities to reduce workplace injury and to assess and improve people's overall health.
