A person conducting a business or undertaking (or employer) should keep written records about respiratory protective equipment (RPE) used at the workplace. Records could include:
- risk assessment(s)
- RPE selection
- training provided to the users, supervisors and those who maintain RPE
- use of RPE
- fit testing
- repair and maintenance
- air monitoring (kept for 30 years after the date the record is made)
- health monitoring (for at least 30 years after the record is made or 40 years for asbestos)
- evidence of review of RPE effectiveness.
