Transport Workers’ Union (TWU) has raised concerns to SafeWork SA about the health and safety of Qantas freight and baggage handlers.

They also raised concerns about Qantas’ alleged lack of response in implementing a safe system of work in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak at Adelaide Airport.

SafeWork SA are currently making enquiries and are keeping TWU informed.

As this is a current open file, we are unable to provide further information.

Concerns relating to Qantas Freight Handling, falls outside of SafeWork SA jurisdiction and falls under Comcare. This has been forwarded to Comcare for their review.

SA Health are the lead agency under the Premier’s declaration of a public health emergency. SA Health are to be notified in the first instance of any confirmed positive cases and it is them that undertake tracing to make links with other confirmed cases.
